Karol DeWulf Nickell began her publishing career at Meredith Corp. in 1979 as assistant furnishings editor of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, where she created the magazine's first antiques column. Since that time she has served as editor in chief of Traditional Home and Traditional Home Decorator Showhouse magazines and as the founding editor in chief of Renovation Style magazine. Among her many industry activities, she has regularly served on the screening committee for the American Society of Magazine Editors' National Magazine Awards.

Karol co-chaired United Way's 2006 Community Leaders Conference in Denver, Colorado and served as Treasurer in 2006 - 2007.  She is the Chair of the Membership Accountability Committee.
